Old Ferguson West is a charming suburban community located about 12 miles northwest of downtown St. Louis and 8 miles north of Clayton. Bordered by Airport Road, S. Florissant Rd, Maline Creek, and the city of Ferguson's western border, it's home to more than 1,000 families and boasts a wide variety of beautiful houses dating from the 1870s to the 1950s.
The neighborhood's majestic old trees and rolling hills recall the sleepy, small town ambiance of decades past. And just minutes away, in the
Ferguson Citywalk District
, residents can enjoy an easy walk (or ride) to restaurants, shops, the Ferguson Farmers Market, the Ted Jones Bike Trail, and many community events.
At the heart of Old Ferguson West is
Central Elementary School
, which has served the area for more than 120 years. Other local landmarks include Zion Lutheran Church, Ferguson United Methodist Church, the Ferguson Masonic Lodge, and Ferguson Station, the city's original train depot. Dating from 1855, the station is adjacent to an active Norfolk-Southern freight line and now houses the
Whistle Stop
frozen custard and sandwich stand.
You must visit Old Ferguson West's newest establishment, The Cork wine bar. They have fantastic atmosphere for a romantic dining experience with an excellent selection of non-standard or some of the finest topshelf refreshments you will find anywhere.
